For the first time, Modena hosted “Alberi Festival. Costruire la città degli alberi” (Festival of Trees: Building the City of Trees), a collaboration between the City of Modena and Fondazione Archivio Leonardi. The festival was inspired by the innovative vision of architects Cesare Leonardi and Franca Stagi, who for more than twenty years studied the relationship between nature, architecture, and urban space.
The event provided an opportunity to reflect on the role of trees not only as natural elements within the city, but also as a source of inspiration for new models of urban, architectural, and landscape design.
Among the most significant installations was the one by Haltadefinizione, official partner of the event, which enlivened the Metamorphoses pavilion with a striking digital production: a Gigapixel version of Botticelli’s Primavera, projected on large LED screens and accompanied by an interactive narrative guide accessible via touchscreen totems. The installation was made possible by technology developed by Memooria, within the Stories Lab of Coosmo, Haltadefinizione’s Digital Asset Management service.
Coosmo allows for the immediate management and use of Gigapixel images, and more: it offers advanced digital archiving services and digital preservation for cultural heritage.
Specifically designed to handle large volumes of digital assets, the system is compatible with IIIF Image and Presentation API standards. Extremely flexible, it adapts to a variety of needs — from preservation to enhancement.
