On the occasion of International Museum Day 2025, which will take place on Sunday, May 18, the City of Bologna, in collaboration with the Civic Museums of Bologna, the UniCredit Art Collection and Haltadefinizione, presented the ultra-high definition digital acquisition of the Hall of Frescoes by the Carracci in Palazzo Magnani, UniCredit’s headquarters in Bologna.
At the center of the initiative is the digitization of the famous fresco cycle The Stories of the Foundation of Rome, painted between 1590 and 1591 by Annibale, Agostino, and Ludovico Carracci. Thanks to a highly precise photographic campaign — over 7,300 individual shots along with 360-degree captures — the entire work has been rendered in stunning detail and unprecedented visual quality.
Among the most engaging experiences for visitors was the installation curated by Haltadefinizione: an interactive totem that allows users to explore the frescoes in gigapixel resolution through multimedia storytelling, revealing hidden details and nuances in an immersive journey through Bologna’s great artistic heritage.
For the occasion, the Quadreria Gallery was open to visitors — a refined guardian of a valuable historical collection in the heart of Bologna.
